Before starting make sure all applications are shut down and that your modem is properly installed.

Contact your computer hardware dealer for instructions on how to install your modem or refer to the user manuals supplied with your modem.

If you require more help with your modem or dial-up networking setting, open the start menu (at the bottom left-hand corner of your screen, see figure 1), click the 'Help' icon and in the dialog box which appears, type: dial and press the enter key. This will show you a list of topics, read the topic 'connecting to the internet using dial-up networking'.
