How to Roam Using Windows CE
Windows CE has
built-in support for connecting to an Internet service provider (ISP)
using a PPP
(Point-to Point Protocol) account. Slip support is not
available; TCP/IP is the only protocol supported
by Windows CE.
How to Create and
Configure a New Connection:
- Click the "Start"
button, then "Programs", and then double-click "Communications."
- Double click
"Remote Networking," and then double-click "Make New Connection".
- Type the name you
want for the connection in the "Type a name for the connection" box.
- Click "Dial-up
Connection" and then "Next".
- Click on your modem
type in the "Select A Modem box," then type the local access phone
number.
- If the number
requires terminal prompt to be enabled, click "Configure".
- On the "Port
Settings" tab, click the "Use Terminal Window After Dialing" check box
so that it is selected , then click OK.
- Alternatively, if
it is not required, leave the box blank. Click OK.
- Click "TCP/IP
Settings." Enter the DNS server address and the proper settings for the
IP Address, and then click OK. Ask technical support for the phone book
settings
- Click "Finish."
Once the connection is created, an icon appears in the "Remote
Networking" folder. Double click the icon to connect to the Internet.
